Water on Mars

While Mars looks like a desolate and barren planet today scientific studies have shown that there are traces of water on mars. This was as recent as 200,000 years ago. Now, that may seem like a long time but it is fascinating when you take into consideration that for many years finding water on Mars was not even possible to most people’s minds. In the southern hemisphere of Mars there is a crater that holds signs of the water that once flowed there. First there are debris flow deposits, that are well preserved, along with gullies that had to have been carved out by water. The presence of these is evidence enough of the fact that there was once liquid water on Mars and with water there might have been life. So, who knows? Maybe once many thousands of years ago there was plant and animal life thriving on the now barren surface of the planet Mars.
